The Mission Project Art Club recently stepped into the world of digital creativity with a fun and engaging session led by our instructor, Jessica. Instead of traditional paints and pencils, participants worked with iPads and a digital art app designed to transform selfies into unique portraits.
Each participant started by taking a selfie and then explored the app’s many creative tools—adjusting filters, adding backgrounds, and experimenting with different artistic styles. The results were as varied as our artists themselves! Some chose bold, colorful effects, while others went for a more subtle, classic look. It was incredible to see how everyone’s personality and creativity shined through in their final pieces.
Art is as diverse as the individuals who create it, and this session was a wonderful reminder that self-expression comes in many forms. Just as digital art expands the boundaries of creativity, people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) continue to break barriers, proving that their voices and perspectives are valuable in every space—including the arts.
At The Mission Project, we celebrate diversity not just in artistic mediums but in the talents, ideas, and perspectives of our participants. We’re so proud of our Art Club members for embracing something new and making it their own!
Stay tuned for our next project!
