Recently, The Mission Project had the honor of attending the Special Olympics Kansas Send-Off Celebration, recognizing athletes preparing to represent Kansas at the 2026 Special Olympics USA Games.

The celebration highlighted the dedication, perseverance, and hard work of athletes who earned the opportunity to compete on the national stage. This year, 66 athletes from the Kansas City, Wichita, and Topeka areas represented Team Kansas, showcasing not only athletic talent but also determination, discipline, and resilience.

We were especially proud to celebrate Mariana Mizik, a 32-year-old athlete who competed in both tennis singles and doubles. Her commitment to her sport reflects the passion and perseverance that define the Special Olympics community.

Events like the Special Olympics remind us of the power of inclusion and the importance of creating opportunities for individuals of all abilities to pursue their goals and celebrate their strengths. At The Mission Project, we believe every individual deserves the opportunity to grow in confidence, build meaningful connections, and thrive in their community.

We are proud to celebrate Mariana and all of Team Kansas for their dedication and the inspiring example they set for others. Their hard work and determination continue to remind us what is possible when opportunity, support, and perseverance come together.
